Decoding Wine: A Wine Tasting with a High-Tech Twist!

Join ACRM's staff and friends for a casual evening of wine discovery with a high-tech twist!

Learn expert techniques for tasting and evaluating wines and explore ways that Artificial Intelligence can help you make better choices every time you shop for wine. Taste 16 specially curated wines from around the world while enjoying delicious hors d'oeuvres from Mavens Market. And take advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire an aged wine from a top producer by bidding on a selection of valuable wines donated by local wine collectors.

Decoding Wine will be held at the Bozeman Event Space, 14 S Tracy Ave in Bozeman. All profits from the evening will go to benefit the museum’s educational programs.

$40 general admission -OR- $100 premium admission (includes a custom gift)

Special guest Marla Goodman will offer hands-on demonstrations of the D-Lev, a new digital hybrid Theremin. Designed by American telecom engineer Eric Wallin, the D-Lev uses FPGA technology, Wallin’s Hive soft processor core, and other digital innovations to offer precision and versatility both to casual Theremin enthusiasts and the world’s top Theremin musicians. Goodman, whom Wallin described as “a key member of the D-Lev project,” has studied Theremin history and technique for 10 years, and is one of about 20 D-Lev Theremin users worldwide.

2022 Stibitz-Wilson Awards

The 20th Stibitz-Wilson Awards are returning to Bozeman! After a three-year hiatus, ACRM will once again be honoring luminaries in the fields of computer science and biodiversity whose groundbreaking work is contributing to our understanding of the relationship between humanity and technology.

The Stibitz-Wilson Honorees are:

  • Paula Apsell, whose influential career in public media and science journalism includes 33 years at the helm of PBS's NOVA, the most popular science series on American television;

  • J. Craig Venter, PhD, widely regarded as a leading scientist of the 21st century for his invaluable contributions to genomic research;

  • and via video, Steve Wozniak, whose foundational work at Apple in the 1970s and 1980s places him at the forefront of the personal computer revolution.
